I gave that number based on Western standards (where $10 won't even buy you bandages), but for reference point, it would probably cost the same in supplies in yen for bandages/burn relief medicine. So if it costs the same, and the doctor is next door, then might as well kind of thing? I understand that in countries where the currency value and inflation levels are lower, $10 is a lot. The other thing to consider is IF you do get injured or sick, a doctor's note is required; so since Woojin is a student, the medical note/record would be for his teacher. While for others, it might be for their jobs; etc.
We have that in the US. I don't know how much the avg cost is when you don't have insurance or medicaid. When I go to a minute clinic my insurance covers everything or I pay for the prescription.
Quick question! Which may be stupid but whatever. Are health services fees taken out of salaries like taxes or do people typically pay for insurance?
My memory is spotty so take this with a grain of salt, but if I recall, it's very similar between Korea and Japan.
Although healthcare isn't free, it's mostly subsidized by a mixture of taxes, and different individual or work insurance plans; because health insurance is mandatory for many jobs, most people have it and the money pools into a national healthcare fund. Functionally a very small percentage of your annual salary goes to it. You just sign up for it by yourself.
And when you do need services, the cost is like 20~30% copay; which is very affordable.
Also to the other person who uses toothpaste---toothpaste is not good for burns, please use aloe or vaseline. You can actually risk making the burn worse (>_<lll)
I'm tired
