Agreed! The same thing happened to the character Sahara from Crows Like Things That Sparkle. She was truly a badazz, but still somehow needed her 'Prince' who wasn't as good as a fighter as her to ultimately save her. I do dislike when they start to weaken the FL so the ML can save the day, but I was also raised in a female dominant family and had to teach myself to understand other perspectives (especially when it comes to cultural backgrounds) Besides, both are still really good stories imo.
what seasoned war general would just wander off in the middle of a battle when she knows there are dark magicians creating summoning circles around? Man, authors would do anything nonsensical to make FLs damsels in distress and have MLs save them. WHAT EXPERIENCED LEADER WOULD START THINKING OF FEELINGS AND CONTRACTS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE EFFING BATTLE? Are we to assume that Ashya, the one who led the dwindling troops to victory, where the rest of her family perished, would make the asinine decision to start playing coy and then just start running around like a headless chicken in the middle of the battle?? The FL was so strong, smart and awesome until this point. Istg my eyes rolled so hard at this they're still spinning.
