I'm probably the only one who understands the ML.

As someone who worked with soldiers suffering from PTSD. I'm probably the only one who understands the ML. Yes his actions are not excuse to cause the FL the mental and emotional abuse but she should have tried to dig deeper to why is her husband behavior's like that. I was kinda expecting that she's the one who should understand and tried to understand what kind of past her husband has but so far the FL is giving me the selfish vibes. I just hope they worked out on their communication better as they are both suffering.

You’re a fucking joke for calling the female lead selfish holy heck

She already TRIED to understand him. All he did in their marriage was push her away and treat her horribly

There is no more ‘understanding’. They are divorced, he promised to be uninvolved in her life. Heiner doesn’t deserve a drop of understanding until he respects her wishes

To even suggest an innocent victim should tried to understand her abuser regardless of the horrid life he lived more is insane, especially with how willing the female lead already was to understand

    Lol what?

“Ey, sorry this dude fucked up your life. Sorry he abused you, took everything away from you, and led you to kill yourself, but he went through a lot, and it’s your fault for not understanding him even though he never spoke about it to you, and was horrible to you from the very beginning.”

    You call her selfish?
Then that makes the ml THE MOST SELFISH PRICK in the world then.

    Way the go.
    Blame the victim.
Stupidest comment I’ve seen so far.

I have same thought people should understand nd think on if one person reaction in other sit and ask him where thingare going wrong and atleast as partner u should ask your partner hey what happened tell me she is so ignorant about her surrounding i don't get fl character they want ml character to understand them always ask them whats wrong but when it comes to do same things to ml they don't do being one time negligence is not crime if u r feigning ignorance for like always u r doing purposely what reason she gave what point of looking back damn when he initiated te past trauma when she felt he is hurt she felt hurt in his eyes she should have asked even if u r suffering that what one normal person can do to other normal person hey what happened but no lol anyway

I will disagree that she is being selfish but I do agree she is holding herself back in a certain way. like that moment where she was about to ask about his past and didn't. like girl I get the resistance but just ask, maybe it will help you to heal in some way to have those talks.

also here in the I don't hate the ML boat. I think he has done some incredibly horrible things to her mental well-being and safety and he deserves to suffer some, etc. But he is also a very clearly and well written tragic character. he has suffered through some of the worst experiences a person can go through and it was like that consistently for what appears to be decades at least. like from birth !!! he is not going to be a functioning or good person to be a relationship with. his mind has been shattered for a very long time. it is up to him to grow and fix these things. and honestly I feel like we're slowly starting to see that! in pieces yes bc he's still falling into old patterns.

I understand the hate train but this is very much a story about two broken people growing. nuance in media literacy is so important.

Just wanted to say thanks for taking the time to type a different perspective out. Especially in a comment section with people incapable of discussing different view points without cursing the hurling insults.

It really makes comment sections more fun to read if we try to view things from other perspectives but the commenters really try to shut any of that down. Like only hivemind thoughts are allowed.

Yeah people are really being weird in this story's comment section. I think its bc it's easier to see yourself as Annette than heiner given the relatability of her trauma.
I even agree with the OP that Annette should have *in the past* tried to connect with Heiner more. And especially early early on, Annette was selfish in some regards. She even admits to it.
OP said husband, meaning the past not right now. But chat is just too hivemind to interrogate potential other meanings to OP's comment.
