Same thoughts on this story. Felt like his character development was a whole load of nothing. Everything just went his way without him putting in any real effort. And it’s like his toxic self from before never existed and he was always a perfect and kind angel. You’d think even if he tried hard to be a good person, some part of his old self may show up unconsciously. Much more interesting if we saw him overcome his old self/life and make his own choices.
That's it!! The true lack of character development!! Pre time reversal, Nokyoung was a vain, rude, pain-the-butt jerk, despised by many workers in his modeling industry. Post time reversal, Nokyoung became playfully vain, but he didn't really struggle. He left Jang, but no one wanted to sign him to a new contract -- we, as readers, didn't really see him struggle to get over this obstacle. He just asked his manager to start his own company and work for him. Even with the new company we don't see him struggle to land new modeling jobs or to work with businesses, fashion icons, make-up artists, or photographers. Again, people who were under contract with Jang left to join the new company. Nokyoung isn't given a chance to almost hit rock-bottom and strive to reach the top again. He apologizes and then things just line up for him. There is no way in that industry there weren't any people not holding grudges -- mid-villains who the author could have used to showcase Nokyoung's change in attitude (physically & mentally) as he sought his place at the top again. While the story wasn't bad, there wasn't any meat on that bone.
Why my rating?? Because while the story wasn't too bad, it didn't have any real sustenance to it. Nokyoung really didn't change his overall life. He just changed owners. Nokyoung went from Jang to Kang to guide his life. He repeats his life but he's not very strong in it despite knowing what is could possibly or is going to happen. For instance, he's a popular model but has to run to Kang to help finance his projects; he allows Kang to help him choose projects instead of relying on himself and those in the industry around him. He has to rely on others to help deal with this parents, instead shutting that situation down himself. He helps the one actor who killed himself in the past over false bullying allegations, but only after several days when the story started making the media, instead of getting in front of it before it made the news. Nokyoung's second chance can be summed up as: be nice to people, choose blockbuster movie, don't renew contract, and find new owner/love interest.
It was the little things that started to irk me as I read this story. While they may add up to be great life changes for Nokyoung, I couldn't escape the feeling of him not really changing his life much just changing the main man who guides his life choices. Couldn't decide if it was 2.5 or at least a stretch to 3 stars. ◔◔ (I also somewhat felt bad for Jang too.)
