i completely agree with your anger against him but i feel like it was more then him hating his best friend, he admits to being molested which is a completely understandable reason in which he acted, not right, but understandable. sexual assault is something traumatic and why he attacked toma isnt out of hatred but fear, a trauma response. i think what he hates so much and fears is something that relates to someone he thinks of so fondly distresses him so much and we can see that when he acts so hyper masculine with yagihara, i dont think what he did was right but i do think its important to recognize how they think because thats what this manga is all about; perspectives

i also want to add that the argument “ you hate what you dont understand” can be applied to the girls, they do not understand his trauma against sexual abuse and sexual assault and it downplays his own experiences. the situation was never an argument about who was right or who was wrong because it was entirely

He was still in the wrong, he had reasons though, but still wrong for what he did. Obviously I don’t understand but if I’ve had a traumatic relationship that harmed me without my convent, I don’t think I’d freak out and hit a friend if she tried to hit on me or do one singular thing that I don’t agree to. to validate your argument through what you “wouldve” done despite clearly admiting you dont understand sexual assault and the traumatic effects contradicts literally everything. i never once said what he did was in the right nor that his actions were justfied; violence is something never to bestow on someone especially one undeserving but the whole point of that scene was that they all had DIFFERENT perspectives on the situation that they couldnt understand, the girls were friends of touma and didnt witness what had actually happened, and the guy saying are you trying to make enemies makes a clear point because the bald guy is forced to listen to them but they dont?? his responses goes both ways. again its clear that why the guy bursted into violence was because it was a TRAUMATIC RESPONSE, and you saying “ oh i mean i wouldnt have done that” doesnt lessen the meaning of that experience, sexual abuse ESPECIALLY when your a minor and your reaction to that is anything but over the top, its a traumatic response
