I dont think he did though. There was an explanation in the comment section of the raws. He was selfish enough to make the MC guilty and making him come out of his hiding by hurting himself. They explained it wasnt suicide.

You just can't k*ll yourselves and make it look like you are no longer guilty. Chasing back and begging is one thing but k*lling himself!? This seme disappointed me till the end. I shouldn't spend this much time for this
