Had that problem at first too. But, now I kinda tell them apart by vibes because of the differences in their personalities. The love interest has this sullen aura around him while the mc tends to be livelier. The way they talk is different too.
The ml is kinda stuck up and bitchy and the mc is a people pleaser and bitchy, only time I can confidently tell them apart is when they're arguing
