i could see this as a shoujo from the 2000s / early 2010s, its also somewhat wattpadian even the art style is very shoujo ml-esque (which i love) --- the "stealing" gf thing, the neighbor thing (shocking!), the triangle thing, the smooching despite barely interacting otherwise... i dont think ive read one like these in the past few years v-v
