I really didnt expected to be as satisfied with this story but now that its done, wow. The only thing I'm disappointed about is hyun's story being rushed. Its so sad that he went through sexual harassment and sacrificed for yijun in the main story only for them to come back to it at the very end of the epilogue for like two chapters. To me that was a big deal and I expected more from that plot line. It just felt tragic that he went through that then it turned out to be a throway plotline not even resolved in the main story. I do feel like there were other plotlines the author starts to touch on then backs out of but overall, this is a pretty decent read. It has a really slow start romance-wise but as a whole I'm glad they did flesh it out. Sekye and yijuns relationship IS very complicated so it does make sense to take that much time to develop.
This was such a rocky start I really thought I'd drop it because I had no idea where it was going. But this honestly had really good character development I didn't expect at all. I really thought there was no way I'd want them to end up together cause I didn't see a happy ending for them besides a toxic relationship. But in the end things came together so well. I'm still a little disappointed abt how some things seemed underdeveloped, but all in all this was pretty good now that I finished it and got the big picture. Lol if I stopped reading at chapter 40 like I wanted to i would have left thinking this was sloppy and bad but honestly reading this is a waiting game and I feel it's worth it
I think a big part of it was feeling like sekye was going to be an irredeemable typical yaoi manhwa ML, the kind that is obsessive, toxic and make their love interest suffer. But this is one of the few times an authors writes a character like that but also gives more than a half-assed explanation why they're so twisted. Not only that, but doesn't chalk it up to 'he's toxic because of his tragic backstory' but expands on his mental health and how he's still struggling as an adult.
And even better, yijun accepts sekye even though he struggles with his mental health but ONLY after he takes a stand and confirms sekye won't hurt or lie to him anymore. That was so unexpected to me because in the beginning even though yijun seemed tough, he let sekye push him around and walk all over him. I thought he'd be the stereotypical uke that is written as strong but turns out to have no backbone, but that isn't case at all. Its worth a read imo
I'm jus a lil sad I left this to cook for so long I was gonna read when the main story ended, then told myself Id read when the epilogue starts... then I saw a few days ago the final chapter came out </3 I should have read when it was still updating it would have been fun to read the comments
