I’m really getting fed up with how the author is slowly trying to white wash James like the fear, trauma and abuse she suffered at his and his families hands can just be washed away with his oh so dutiful “sacrifice “ turning with time has come with. For all the times he went back to the past, all it amounted to was added frustration and obsession on his end and yet throughout it all he knows the BARE minimum about her. it’s sickening.

the actual fact that she’s even entertaining his foolishness and allowing him to have a chance to explain or express himself to her at all is beyond me. the moment i was happy with a new husband that actually cared about me and showed it, I’d never even think to mention a James again. the trauma of course would still be there but there’s no way in hell I’d need to talk to him again so it’s beyond me how she’s even remotely interested or capable of standing in his presence for a long period of time.

uh…no it just means to attempt to cover up or wash clean (wash away) the offenses and wrongdoings of the person in question. other than that, the term is also used for many other meanings, most of which just means to cover up or paint over something instead of properly fixing them. it’s not really meant for race or skin tones, but i have heard it used in that sense but i think that maybe something like an unofficial meaning
