Its the way I don't give a shit about this past, because it's the children of every generation that end up suffering. Say what you will, but Scarlett's mother got to live until a certain age with all her experiences, but Scarlett's was cut short because of a kingdom feud, a king who didn't know how to govern a kingdom, and indirectly by a mother who lived as she pleased knowing her daughter could one day be used to bargain (not a bad thing, except she knew the consequences of her daughter's freedom) and a father who ultimately gave precedence to the kingdom he loved in the very end.
I don't fault Scarlett's mother for her choice, not the King or even - to an extent - Adolphus, if I'm seeing it from a business end. But my God would I hate them all from Scarlett's perspective.
