I understand and get your point but we've gotta stop being offended by everything in my opinion. Because then it feels like we can't have good stories and have them put heavy topics in them. Like I saw someone say we're literally reading yaoi on an illegal site, and I agree. I just feel like we shouldn't really take these stories that seriously because they're fiction, granted with some real elements. But thats my opinion and everyone is entitled to their own opinions and feelings
do u know that light skinned people were also and still are slaves? would it be okay if the author had depicted the slaves as being lighter skinned. i think the author made the ice nation lighter cause they are "ice" not because of fetishizing dark skinned people being slaves. there is plenty of stores depicting slavery , murder, etc and thats fiction for you. i dont find this offensive at all

I honestly personally am not offended but I think people are allowed to be upset because of the whole slavery thing being a real issue specially In the poc community since mostly dark skinned people were enslaved in the past and some currently stills are due to colonization not saying light skinned people weren't enslaved just saying the majority was people of color
Though i do think its stupid to get mad at others for not being offended or attacking people for reading this when it is infact just fiction and we are reading on an illegal website where everyone is entitled to their own opinions lmao
don't attack anybody, some people are just uneducated but here's my opinion. just because you're not personally offended by this doesn't mean this isn't inherently wrong or offensive. now I'm not saying you shouldn't be reading this or that you can't because we can all agree that this is fiction and i personally am one of the people continuing to read this (out of boredom and curiosity) but what I'm saying is that by saying that this isn't offensive, it kind of dismisses the fetishization and downplaying of slavery specifically towards dark skinned people of color in this manga.
