He does care, he just doesn't always read the room or know what Yo-il is going through. Not everyone has a kind/attentive personality, so he displays his affection in his own way. But When Yo-il tells him what is wrong, he takes action right away.
I think he's a bit of a nutjob yeah, but not all that unconcerned. Even with postgrad, it wasn't until Yo-il explained he was financially unstable that he took action to help. Basically I think he's simple in his own way and just doesn't read minds.

i was really sad when ml didnt let mc just hug him and then decided to like lowkey forcibly have sex with him instead because like... those moments when you need a hug from someone you care about are so important :( and to just have someone misunderstand that and then make you have sex with them instead when you're still in a delicate place mentally is so inconsiderate and horrible. i guess it's okay (?) now though since ml knows about mc's past and he's gonna do smthn about it i hope. but yeah that hurt a lil bit sigh. maybe im just a snowflake.......
