That's exactly why. Even before the regression, he was still like that. The only difference now is that he can improve his skill without actually dying. His teammates, being incredibly talented, have probably always been surrounded by bad people, and Mc being the way he is was a new experience.

Yes, he was not pretentious and worked very hard but is that all the reason??
