Actually, things are going different from the novel and from the anime, so I wouldn't trust the novel's ending too much.

I have mixed feelings about their relationship. It's really cute seeing them grow together and closer, with the possibility of Yumelia and Alicia becoming friends.
But knowing what's happen at the end breaks my heart.
To those that don't know, in the fight against the Demon Lord, Alicia and her fishes (except prince) tried to kill Yumelia, she would be dead if it wasn't for Patrick's charm (I believe he already gave it to her in early chapters).
They bretray her. The prince stand there shocked thinking they are crazy. Even the Demon Lord intervenes on behalf of Yumelia.
