I think it because they didn't communicate before he travel back, so she believed all liie of the stupid girl, plus apparently he did believe what the other girl was saying about his wife and didn't want to disturb her because he thought she hates him so he didn't know about what his wife really think, really experience with that bitchy frien of his...so it was a communication problem
