Yeah but in this story the only thing weighing him are the technology, he's modern doctor so he need to find way to make alternative but yeah kidney or something that need transplanted are almost impossible for his era
...no one can really cure the passing of time. Kidney disease is practically deadly for people with diabetes, especially so for the elderly. As a person with family history of diabetes, I've seen this happening too much.
