I don’t think he was 20. If you look at the secondary couple (red haired+black haired), they were considered as “adults” or being in “marriable age”(the coming of age) pretty young and decided for her to “pass her prime” in order to conceive because it was less dangerous for her in that way. In a historical context, people used to get married(or be considered of “marriable age”) at around 15 years of age or so (if not younger), which would make sense to wait until order for childbearing to be less dangerous. In the case that this is taken into consideration, he would’ve still been underage too(considering modern standards). I’d say that, yes, there was definitely a big age gap, but they were both children still.

But again, I get the point of child marriage/bride, so it could still be considered concerning either way.

It's a historical story. That's how things worked back then. They married their children off when they were underage.

Wait until you learn that they often got pregnant as soon as they were physically mature enough to conceive.
