Pretty sure all toxic masculinity comes from sexism, so what matters is if the character has development and how well that's handled. Now I wonder how was his decision of pretending to be gay, because right now it makes a picture of being an asshole in the political and ethical sense.
With some luck it's a story about how patriarchy fucks us all tho... Mmm i won't risk it being bad so i'll not read it, but i hope someone answering these questions will help others!
I remember reading this years back and recall disliking the ML over his shitty toxic masculinity. "Men don't say sorry" or was it Men don't ask for forgiveness yadayada. biggest turn off. and a boss babe like the fml was chasing his ass all the way to his family home to 'work it out'. gtfoh
