for actual commentary that’s not just based on my ability to recognise what year something might be set in solely through the october lineup, this one is…. hmmm. i think moscareto is generally a pretty solid writer, but i don’t think this hits the way some of her others do, even as a big fan of character dynamics where they split, then eventually reunite & get together later on after maturing some… can’t even put my finger on why. maybe it could’ve used some more chapters to pace things out further? i don’t know.

despite this story being from 2022, it can’t take place in 2022 specifically because of the october calendar on minjun’s desk. whether accidental or intended as a detail, it probably takes place in 2019 because of this (or 2024, meaning it was set in the future a little bit at the time of publication if so)!
