it’s a thing i’ve noticed almost any manhwa or manga that includes a desert region always makes them barbarians and violent. and they’re always dressed like arabs or muslims or both. if that’s not racist idk what is. They could easily make another region that includes all people that fits the barbaric theme instead of targeting one demographic of people every time
Yeah I clocked that too. I get the author might not be conscious of how this comes off, but it's deffo feeling a bit racist tbh. I hate the trope that all desert regions are full of barbaric dudes who entertain thoughts of raping or kidnapping the first person that crosses their path.

I don’t like making excuses for the author tho, if they researched enough to know how to draw the way they dress and the architecture, i’m positive they can research enough to know this is racist. ignorance is inexcusable in this generation of technology where information is easily accessible to everyone
Fr, that's a bad habit on my part tbh. I'm so used to having to hold back when people are low-key racist to me that I give people a bit too much of the benefit of doubt a lot of the time. It's pretty inexcusable here, where they've clearly done their research and should know better. As you said, it's so easy to fact check these things. It'd be one thing if it was a purely fictional race like elves or smth, but this is very clearly based on certain groups of real people.
