Idk, I feel like it was intended. I can think of 2 things why.
1. They are much older so they dont express their feelings much
2. Irl no one says "I like you" that way and its almost impossible to make it sound not corny in most situations
It may have been intended but like cmon, this is manga and like as adults, I would have expected them to communicate their feelings more without feeling uncomfortable or embarrassed after all of that lore drop from one another despite the story just straight up being dude bro porn. There’s def more potential to be honed for this story, it was just cut too short so while I respect your perspective, I would have to disagree bc to me it wouldn’t really make sense realistically or not.
Y’all is it just more or like was the ending not what it should have been like I feel as if there’s something missing and more could be added it just feels so unsatisfactory I WAS EXPECTING THEM TO SAY “I LIKE YOU” AT LEAST
