He never knew that the world would end and the fate that would come if he didn’t tell vivian that he was the prince who had shadow magic, the one the she was looking for. If anything I bet he was terrified since she literally never disclosed why she was looking for that particular person. He would’ve kept quiet in fear that it would end up like his previous living circumstances if he had said anything. Ren had escaped such a cruel environment and was treated with kindness for the first time in his life. Developing feelings for Vivian is only natural since she technically saved him, if he was left outside it would only be a matter of time before he would be caught by his so called “family” that only needs him for one purpose, his powers. If he was never encaged by his family who only sought out his power, then he would’ve felt comfortable telling Vivian about his powers. But he has so much trauma so obviously it would’ve been too scary to tell her about them out of fear that he would be locked up once more. And when she first found him, he still hadn’t gained his powers, so if she did ask him, his reply would’ve been a no, even then I’m pretty sure he wasn’t even aware of what type of powers he was going to possess since he was never told anything by the people who held him captive for that sole purpose. He was seen as something that would be useful just for one thing, take it away and he’s worthless, that why they wanted to resort to killing him afterwards since they had no use for him. He didn’t want that to be how he lived the rest of his life, so he ran away, saw the outside world for a few seconds, opened his eyes and he was indoors once again. He would’ve been terrified and didn’t trust whoever nabbed him, but Vivian treated him with kindness so he would repay it by listening to his every word. Ren may seem shady, but it’s just to protect his saviour, and the one he loves.
