Yes but I think it a bit different, positive trait is a way to interpret anything that happened as an opportunity or as a plus...but in his case ,before meeting his woman, it was like "life is life so what happen can happen,I don't have a choice anyway", it's was a defeatist attitude...but yeah now I agree with you he is positive because he has a purpose in life

and kinda stoic? he doesnt greed for what he doesnt deserve, and doesnt dwell with something he couldnt change.
