I don't think anyone who has been around yaoi for more than a few weeks has any illusion about this being heartwarming, but there are certain decisions that might not align with one's expectations or hopes as a reader. Personally, I must have read at least 100 yaoi with the "uke in debt" plotline. Most of which have been shit, if I'm being honest. But, sometimes, you read this plot with a strong-headed realistic MC and a seme who is not the most abusive ever and think "while this started with the cliché shitty excuse of paying debt and this isn't going to be sunshine and rainbow but there is potential for ML to grow to respect MC as time goes by. Also, the fact that MC isn't like 99% of ukes in this story who fall for ML makes this more interesting. They might end up meeting each other halfway after trials and tribulations and maybe when we near chapter 100, they will be closer". There was never a guarantee that this was going to happen, but one could hope...
WHY do people think this was going to have a heart warming relationship .
( i am honestly in love with how things are going yet so sad for Mc) - i like how they keep it realistic - MC situation is terrible from the start - seme is not here to fix Mc problems .
should i even call him "seme" .
This may come off as ur usual "MC is in debt " meets seme , and things progress from their , nope this dives much deeper than that. if u look beyond everything , it has it's flaws as much as it's complexity . the " plot is also good , but u could easily get lost.
I feel the complex emotions from Hawon . u can tell he does not enjoy S*x , and it shows he is not a clueless Mc . he knows when to take a step back , and is aware of his strengths ( his "looks") - and his weakness ( his "debt ") - he also knows that life is cruel , and fairness does not exist < only power< money .
( if u expect a good none-toxic relationship from this , pls check back from the 1st page.
"LIfe IS A COMEDY FROM AFAR "
"BUT A TRAGEDY WHEN VIEWED CLOSE UP" .
