I haven't read the ending yet. I'm contemplating on whether or not I should read it. And if it's not translated, I'll only be able to look at the pictures and not read. But I will say this: if the ending is lackluster, I wonder if the author and illustrator got mentally and emotionally tired with all the yelling and back & forth? You said the novel wasn't any better. If the author of the manga is different from the author of the novel, then it would make sense that they took on the task, but didn't realize how much it would take outta them physically and emotionally. Couple that with how draining the deadlines of manhwas/mangas/manhuas/webtoons are anyway, yeah....I wouldn't be surprised if they were like, "Fuck this, I can't take this shit anymore. Let's just end it and sleep for the next 6 months."
Maybe this is true, maybe they had a better vision of the ending and not follow the novel instead but the thing is ever since in the middle of the manhwa things have gone nowhere, no solid storyline, everything going back in circles and no development. I do share your sentiment with the author, the effort they've gone thru is not to be joked about. When there are side stories maybe they'll give us an alternative ending with a wholesome threesome, please please please
Or maybe the publisher didn't like them create a different ending that's why they half-assed this in the end
