I actually don’t hate the brother or his motivations. By the Brother, I’m referring to the new antagonist or whatever not the main character. Him panicking and saying, “I love her because I used to teach her” is clearly trying to think on his feet right. Him and a couple other people have came to the conclusion They can’t rely on the aristocracy to always care for them because of situations around them and to be fair he’s kind of right because the region he lives in is one who is ultimately covered by a man who cares not for people, but for the law. Like he made it very clear if any of his children cross the law, he will deal with them in a swift and decisive way, and he had that done before. He is also worrying about his place in the system. His family is middle management, but if anything, they are lower management like they do not have the power. I think people are assuming them. Like they have more power than other people of the land, but out of everyone we seen so far, they have the least power. If he marries into this family, he will be able to protect him his sister and their descendants. If his sister marries into the family, she won’t be able to do the same. Where is he can extend the protection to her she can’t do the same for him so ultimately he will be in a worse predicament if he particularly doesn’t marry into this family. And if he doesn’t thing that is applicable is him turning down the entire system, which ultimately won’t end well because the one who controls the system isn’t even being touched yeah his family members might die, but him and his wife are fine. The situation is a lose-lose for him but he also cannot rely on the empathy of people who have shown not to be empathetic towards him. Because it’s not like when he started speaking, they tried to find an end for the situation. They just shut it down. If he was smarter, he would’ve tried to come in the middle of his sister‘s relationship. However, his father is probably not gonna care because at least one of his children is succeeding. There is genuinely nothing he can do and no way he can get out of his situation and I will be surprised if it doesn’t end in his death or him going to jail and being erased and his sister not caring.
