The MC isn't being hypocritical. He also wasn't underestimating the dragon.
In the previous chapters, he went to the dragon dragging the evil lady in order to appease the dragon, but it decided to rampage and decided it wants to destroy all martial artists. The MC is defending himself and everyone from this.
You guys are so butthurt he didn't save the girl. Then why did the dragon entrust the little girl with the evil lady knowing more that she is uncontrollable. It is the swordsman's fault for underestimating the MC and the dragon's fault for leaving the girl with the evil lady. If the dragon is really powerful he would have done everything he could to cure the girl in the first place.
See how they are different? If the MC knew the girl's situation, he would have cured her already like how he cured the sister who was freezing. You guys are blaming the MC for something he can't even know.
The dragon killed a lot of clans already and was just sparing the Tang clan because it thinks they can cure the girl. The dragon didn't even ask the Tang clan in the first place to cure the girl. It just wants to dominate the clans first before finding the cure. That itself is arrogant, greedy and selfish.
It is just frustrating to think a lot of people in this comments are siding with a tyrant dragon when there is nothing to sympathize with.

Im just saying he’s a hypocrite because he's saved people in the past and didn't try to help the lil girl. Also, the evil sect lord left the adopted daughter with the brother and the brother of the lord that was killed by the MC left the girl to the woman because he thought she was safe to be left with her. The evil dragon is the evil sect lord for a reason they fight other clans in the same way the tang clan has fought other clans too. Btw with the dragon having the tang clan try to heal the adopted daughter was literally stated in the last ch but they didn’t get to heal her yet. And I don’t think any of the characters are all that but the MC’s mom is hot.
No. The dragon did not ask the Tang clan to heal her. He just said he didn't kill off the Tang clan because they would serve the purpose of healing her once he dominates them. He killed all the other clans to flex his power though.

It was the responsibility of the swordsman to guard the girl and they didn't explain or ask for help from the MC. Why are you blaming him if it was late? You should blame the dragon for coming in late. Once he felt his brother die, he should have immediately came. Instead, the dragon waited until the lady killed the girl.
The MC wouldn't have expected the lady to actually kill the girl. Read that part again. The lady was beckoning everyone to kill the MC while the little girl as hostage. He can't use the blade tornado on the lady cause it will kill the girl too. Also, he couldn't have expected the lady to actually kill the girl since they are on the same side. The lady decided to kill the girl so as to provoke the dragon. That is on them, and out of the MCs control.

He was invited to come, he did, they attacked him and he did what he had to do to survive. he says later that he failed to save her not that he wasn't going to at all. he underestimated the woman as a threat and that cost the girl her life. He was hoping likely that the dude didn't care about the people as much as he thought he might because he didn't initially lash out. It is still callous on his part and I don't think there was enough regret there. he's def not a hero, he's just strong
The Mc will judge and fight people trying to hurt the tang clan/ his family and friends. But when he hurts someone else's family and watches a girl die when he could’ve helped her cause she was innocent. But is surprised that when her adopted father is mad and whats to take out his family/clan its not justifiable in his eyes. Like bro you just killed his brother and watched his adopted daughter get set in fire.
