Yeah, she did, thats why the redemption/gain sympathy for her doesn’t make sense, she literally wanted the story to keep repeating itself, i think that she was even responsible of bringing souls from other worlds to replace The OG Edith, she felt powerful for controlling the story to her desires and she even found pleasure in watching each Edith struggle for the 1st few exceptions, i think there was a moment she mentioned that after a point it was boring because all 12 Edith mostly did the same, but then 13th Edith came in and she was excited at 1st since she was not boring but then got worried when she kept surviving and clearing the exceptions
I honestly prefer that ending because Edith was never the type to take revenge, yes she would take small revenge any time she spoke up to tease the other characters, but mostly she is just trying to clear her name, throughout the novel she always just wanted to survive and leave with her Husband to their territory so they could live happily over there and make it prosper. If she was someone who always paid others back what they give her than yes hell yes for a revenge story ending.
Most likely, if it was editor’s intervention, it just seems like they read a summary of the whole story and didn't actually read it, to understand each character’s personality.
Like the scene where its the Duke who decided her fate basically, it was supposed to happen like in the novel where Killian decided her fate. But now they are even changing the “OG story” in the novel.

HAH! I knew it. It seems like the artist and/or editors wanna change Elize's character by giving her a sob story......
Kinda mixed feelings on this 'coz now, I don't know how this story will go

I agree with you regarding the ending! I like it too.
I LIKE that she's different from the other FL in rofan in that she doesn't want to bother taking revenge (not that I don't like revenge) and chose to live the fate of her suppressor to the villain herself, given the loss of her absolute authority.

Agree! And same! Its like now the story has a different tone and even though im disappointed i am curious about what they decide for the ending.

Yes! And in the novel the Author gets what they deserve, Edith even tells her, girl if you don’t change you will suffer and wont have a happy ending, and what happened, Liz didnt take the advice and continued being a Spoiled entitled brat, the difference since she lost all her authority everyone could see her true colors.
some novel spoilers
Officially disappointed with this adaptation I understand that maybe the artist didn't have the time or something but to many changes to the novel, like why would you just decide, oh hey we don’t need to show this part, oh we can change this and that. Nooo, why did they skip the best parts!! I was already on the fence when they changed the kidnapping scene, like the open backdoor scene, Ediths family sent her a letter with a “device” so she would place it at the door and it would stay open even after it is locked, and create and opening so they could kidnap Liz and the Duchess, OG Edith did it but 13th Edith did not, and she and Liz where both like Night patrolling. Because of this Edith started suspecting Liz more too. There where some parts that i was actually glad they changed a bit, like less torture for Edith, cuz in the novel there was more blood that what was shown (understand for censorship issues) so after a bit i stop caring but it is to much now, they literally summarize like 15 chapters and changed a lot of parts that didn't need/deserve changing, i wanted to see the part where Liz was screaming and begging at Edith so she wouldn’t break the 3rd exception, and now they are going to the infirmary where the Duchess is but she was supposed to go to a Cell so that Liz can do her crazy bit and Killian realizes that Liz was the one trying to kill Edith this whole time. And why this redemption arc for the Author, like she was not someone that wanted to leave the novel, Edith went inside the novel so that the author could continue her fantasy, thats why theres been 13 Ediths, she loved being Liz and was completely obsessed on making sure Edith died so Liz could live forever as she was, young/beautiful and loved by all, if there was a novel chapter showing that the author didn't actually want to be in the novel, i didn't read it. I don't know how they will change that here, and now im just sad that the artist derailed the story so much, it should not be hard to stick to the story even if they need to take some extra time to complete it or if they cant complete it, then delegated it to someone who will. Sorry if this upsets anyone, this just happens so many times and i still don’t understand how the artists are not understanding that changing the story so much changes its tune, at some point it doesn’t give the same feeling and if thats what they were going for then they should just create their own Original stories instead of taking over and changing some else’s work. Sorry for the rant! ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
