nah... you say literally? why didnyou say so? were you there during brainstorming of the story with that said author? were you close with those so called authors and they told you that was their intention? Can you point out authors who REALLY said that they wrote the backstory coz they want to justify their bad behaviour? Point is we really dont know coz it's their story to tell. They wrote their backstory coz they just want us to know how shit their life was that's why their personality is like that and for me as a reader I like getting to know the characters. They are not shoving it to our mouths, whether the reader justifies it or not it's up to the reader.
This is true! I dont want any plot holes! Give us story not just smut! hahaha I remember reading a manwha before same author of gig of the day, like the ML's only back story was he was gloomy and unpopular when he was young and he was dumped and transformation. Like we didnt even know what his background was coz he looks deffo loaded and the author didnt even bother. I was like why tf is ML is just a manager and taking the train that morning and then at the end he has this big ass house and ordering someone to "take care" of uke's exbf. oh well sorry that's tmi haha
I have eyes and a brain. so no im not close to the authors or anything like that but I'm also not stupid where I come from we were taught reding comprehension so when an author is trying to justify some kind of rubbish behaviour it's quite clear in the way they continue the story and the dialogue between the characters this is kinda obvious stuff yk? An authors writing is also a literal gateway into how they think so it's odd I'd need to know them personally since their work is a representation of their thoughts and ideas written and shown i don't need to be there the entire process becasue the end product shows me the closest thing to what they want to show
My problem is not with the backstory itself... is with how its being exposed. Why not have the ML be the one who explain himself? Why is the sister trying to fix their relationship? Why is she exposing the ML's trauma when he clealy wasnt ready to tell it? Its not satisfying how its been told out of nowhere like this just to make the MC feel pity for him.
When the authors do not give a backstory about the ML, the readers wants to get a backstory. When they get a backstory they complain that the author is just trying to justify the actions of the character by giving their backstory. For me I'd rather be able to get to know the characters backgrounds instead of just focusing on sx scenes.
