Maybe it's because of the constant shocks that are being thrown into the story that makes it look ridiculous. For me I have to laugh off the insanity of it if I'm to not get insane myself

I meant the shocks were shocking enough to make me want to stay and read more of the story. It's not a good story, in terms of the suffering of the MC, but I want to see if he can beat the odds and get the money he needs to get back his family. Plus the shocks give me an added incentive to see how far the author would go to make his life miserable
