I feel like picking god and goddess from Africa is way much harder than you think. cause each tribe in Africa have their own god and goddess so to just pick one out of thousand or so, many will get angry or offended that their god isn't included. so their logical answer is making rules that are making it easier. like 1. the god must be well-known by thousands of people in masses or has been used in some media one way or the another, 2. their power need to be straight forward or easily understand. and maybe 3. they have some correlation to the main series.
