I thought the same to till someone commented who read the novel said he did send the scarf it was a warning for her to either shut up about making her the empress and a legitimate companion or just die. But he didn't think she would choose death. After her death he didn't care until he started having bad side effects like vomiting blood 24/7 and mental problems that eventually lead him to go mad & kill everyone & that's when he decided to turn back time...

no it was a scarf.A spoiler said that he sent her the scarf for her to either commit or shut up. So I got impatient and went to see the ending spoilers. Come to find out that were her thoughts & pov. So that's what she believe. So from his pov he sent it as an apology gift but didn't say anything or what it was for cause he assumed she would know. But it was an actual gift cause he recognized his feelings for her.
So I guess you were right it was a misunderstanding.
But once I find the novel translated I'm going to read it myself to confirm.
That was stupid of her anyway if he can reverse time each time you die. I'm pretty sure it's not going to be that hard to find you and bring you back.
