There's this one novel that I forgot the title but that had the same situation with the Mcs. The reason why they don't feel hunger is that they're both in the middle of afterlife so they can't or shouldn't feel hunger in hell but it was used as an illusion to torment them into thinking it's better to be dead than alive.

honestly tho, i think about that often. how little logic is used (not in this story, in general! with action especially) and how much of that is proly cuz everythings being run by these dumbass cis het men aint none of half the problems MCs face would occur if their moms were on the scene

How do you go to a trip for hell without food and warm clothes? Is that why protagonists don't have mothers? So they can put themselves in danger and don't even think about higiene, weather and food?
And I know it was a last minute trip. But obviously it hasn't any duty free in purgatory or whatever...
