I know the church has a lot to answer to... But I am saying that there is an increase in trying to portray the devil as a "good" and just person. They portray the devil as a person with a morally grey persona and will never do anything one does not deserve.. while on the other hand, they show almost always, the church as HIGHLY CORRUPT AND IRREDEEMABLE... I just want some balance.. yin-yang...
Throughout history those who were demonized, branded as devils and evil, were simply people of a minority with no power. Our generation is increasingly aware of that, of the demonization of innocent people, which I think is a big inspiration for this kind of portrail of the devil.
A message or mindset that rejects black and white, that seeks to question the right and wrongs we've been taught.
I mean, look at all the villainess reincarnation manhwa, there's a lot of that out there rn.
There’s many “Devil” like gods in many forms of religion that many people feel connected to. Especially in Greek mythology. Characters like hades and or even in the Christian Bible Lilith are seen as basically villains yet many people understand them and relate due to what they stand for. It’s not about devil being promoted as a source of justice. But the hypocrisy of the gods. Demanding XYZ and manipulating in the name of god yet condemn those who do the same thing they preach against. The clear corruption and lies being told to fit their own personal narrative. I do feel if you’re going to think one sidedly because of you’re own personal beliefs you’ll miss many fundamental insights and wouldn’t really enjoy it
I believe it’s to show the contrast on those who are seen as devil like and people who seen as godlike. If you’re not a minority or different from standard it’s hard to see the double standards of what people who are suppose to be evil aren’t always just evil. There’s “evil people” with a more complex view of the system or what should and shouldn’t be done. Just like how there’s a saying a hero would save the world and sacrifice their loved ones and the villain burn the world just to protect them it’s the same here. What would happen if the people who suppose to love and save are actually the corrupt and the ones who suppose to hate and kill are just protecting themselves. Many people can relate to the devil more than the god.

A lot of time, "evil" is just defined by its era. what was evil then, isn't evil now. I don't think humans really have the right to judge what is evil and what is not, which is why I find institutions rigidly only preaching their methods while rejection other ways tend to be more ironically immorral. But the people who follow faiths aren't necessarily so.
I guess a good example was Jeanne D'arc. Depending on the series, she was betrayed by the institution but was a devout believer of god and was good at heart.
Who else has noticed the uptick in making "devils" good why actively vilifying Christ ... They go out of their way to make Christians THE MOST VILE AND HORRID characters in a fic/movie while making actual devils/demons/ witches one of the best people in the manhwa..
While I do acknowledge that , yes, there are bad people in the church BUT they are also AMAZING people that are hardly ever shown in manhwas..
This is not about this manhwa, its something I noticed. I guess this introspection got triggered when she said she got "devil" on her side like its sth to be proud of...
Pls,feel free to ignore this, I am just writing my thoughts...
