Random talk about v-tubers and streamers

So I’m new to the v-tuber scene. Like I just discover PL means previous life, and my mind was like blown away. I’ve been obsessed for Vantacrow the v-tuber for the past few days but I realized I don’t know anything about him like nothing. I was watching Valkrae, and she felt so chill, down to earth, and most of all, human. She would ramble about daily life, insecurities, and just how life is going. When im watching Vantacrow or any of the other V-tubers it kinda feels like I’m watching a persona rather than a person. They often talk about their experiences in very vague terms and although not always, you can kinda tell that they are sometimes forcing themselves to be a certain way to fit their persona. I wanna preface this again, not always forcing themselves so it can sometimes so it’s funny when they break characters, tho at times, u can also tell that it’s sometimes also on purpose. This felt very wonky to me, I think it’s also why is’s easy to fall in love with v-tubers, because u fill in the blanks that you don’t know about the v-tuber. Anyone else agree, or agree to disagree? Ima just curious about other peoples thoughts?

I am honestly very clueless. So it may be obvious but I’d like to ask anyways. I assume the reason v-tubers like Vantacrow and others from Niji is like what I said above is because they are under a contract? Because Unlike the others, Shoto isn’t under a contract and is very open about his life experiences, who he is, and basically he doesn’t seems to have a one specific persona feeling like others.

girl I fall in love with Vtubers I can't even understand.
sighhhh Shacohu is so cute. ANY KAGAMI HAYATO FANS/ potential shareholders HERE??? (If i remember correctly that was his fan name). he's so adorable, so innocent and adorable. (≧∀≦)
one moment he'll miss a dirty joke in a video game the other he'll be screaming his lungs singing a metal song
one moment he'll be flustered over people's teasing the other he'll scare people with his INIFITE AURA
there's so much gap moe with people thinking hes hard to approach but he's the most friendly, most innocent and cheerful dude youll ever meet. SO CUTE AHHHH. And yk i never miss any of his covers or songs.
ROFMAO FOR LIFE. Also the NIJI project re:liver where he sang "I wanna you wanna" alone UGHHHHHH.
LET ME TELL YOU, SHACHOU DOESNT NEED AUTOTUNE, AUTOTUNE NEEDS SHACHOU.
and the thing is shachou is WAYYY too innocent to intentionally give fan service SO WHEN HE NEEDS TO GIVE FAN SERVICE BECAUSE OF BETS, HE GETS SO FLUSTERED BUT DOES IT SO WELL. Let me tell you, when he situation voice pack got a resale I WAS THE FIRST TO BUY THAT SHIT, I NEEDED IT DESPITE NOT UNDERSTANDING A LICK OF JAPANESE.
AND HIS MODEL IS SO PRETTY TOO. I really really REALLY LOVE nijisanji models. IM NOT KIDDING. they focus more on the visual appeal rather than a million toggles. AND SHACHOU IS JUST BEAUTIFUL, I LOVE FUYUOMI MAMA'S ART SO MUCH. THE WAY THEY DRAW SHACHOU IS SO PRETTY. ITS SO SO PRETTY. IM OBSSESED

V-tubers create a particular persona to create a strong fan following, their work is kinda like idols but more desperate? They act in a way that would capture the hearts of their audience which is generally females, as in they want to be simped on. Have you watched that one vtuber concert, its held on a literal screen and as he sings he flicks his characters hair away and that makes the crowd go crazy, weird right?
I think the craze about them is the blurred line between fiction and reality, the vtubers can customise their looks anyway they want and they usually choose a good looking and attractive face which ofcourse isn't realistic in human beauty standards cause it's fictional while they give it a personality specifically tailored to appeal women which in a way feeds their fans' delusion that the person behind the character looks the same as their character and they ofcourse think so with the personality aspect too so the fans think they might have a chance with the vtuber since he's a human being and has all the fictional man/woman characteristics.

most stuff about vtubers is in their debut (also a vanta fan BASED) but I suggest looking at clips cause you can learn a lot about them that way. Nijisanji fans arent banned from sharing personal info about themselves (theres a limit yea) but if it doesnt expose their actual identity then its okay

I think corporate vtubers are restricted from telling more about themselves, but that comes in part due to their contract, but also the role that they are meant to play for their intended audience.

For a lot of indie vtubers, their avatar is mainly a means of giving a visual persona for themselves. They may choose to be more secretive about themselves, but many don’t, because the avatar doesn’t really provide much other than a visual barrier.

For corporate vtubers, it’s different. They are to effectively act under an alias, their vtubing avatar is serving not only visual, but also functional purposes. This is in accordance to the role they serve, whether as entertainers, idols, etc. The person behind it is kept separate from the persona. So whenever they stream, it is as the persona, rather than their actual selves.

I’m sure some corporate vtubers are frustrated that they can’t reveal too much about themselves. But there are likely others who are fine playing the role of a persona.

Then there’s the problem of when people (both male and female fans) cannot detach the persona from the person, which is where problems bleed in…another topic I could go on forever about.

yeah this, they switch it easily, all they need is people to like their voice and everything else can kinda be scripted or faked, not to say they all are but it’s normal to have a front when you’re “working” I think everybody does at some point
