why did eishin not think to kill himself before they meet /gen? is my understanding right that his resolve to meet fate was rlly not that strong/he's too weak that he cant live (or die) without houri? Isn't suicide the peak "taking fate into my own hands" move? Why has he not tested it in their numerous lifetimes before if he rlly wanted their curse to end? Like what solutions did he take before, besides this life where he acted that he didnt remember but ultimately couldnt unlatch himself from houri and is now running away? Is he attached to his life this time, too/his life isnt exclusively revolving around houri?

not hating questioning or anything! Genuinely just curious abt the character motivations

Bro's encouraging suicide Jokes aside, not everyone who's sad enough to want to die can actually kill themselves.

Honestly I was thinking that too . Like he's had plenty of rebirth he could have moved to another country . Found himself another lover . Else even off himself if really desperate or so.much more . But he kept on waiting for Mc with the pretext that he doesn't wanna show up in front of hims and so on .

I mean, you can never easily forget or move on from a love that span from a thousand years. There's even people who felt so broken from a relationship of mere years what more of eishin's love where he remembers all his past memories? Can you even stay away from a loved one knowing that he's somewhere out there?

This is just my opinion but, if Eishin died before meeting Houri and possibly ending the cycle, then the two would not be reborn in the same era again or worst Eishin would just die without being reborn. Could you stomach the idea of not meeting the person you love of a thousand years in this life and possibly ever again just to take the high risk of ending the cycle and that's just even a bunch of ifs and possibilities. That's where his weak resolve comes from I think. On the other hand, once Eishin decided to live his life, he can't really stay away from Houri. There will always be a time where he misses him or accidentally meeting Houri. A lifetime is long and it's cruel how Eishin is the only one who remembers their memories from the start. He can never really let go of Houri knowing he is alive somewhere and once they meet, the wheels of fate starts to move continuing the cycle of multiple rebirths. ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
