He is a sociopath

This is insanely good writing to show difference between psychopath and sociopath. This guy, undoubtedly, a sociopath. To explain the difference briefly, psychopath is born and sociopath is made. Between them, psychopaths have error in their nervous system which made them lack of empathy and easy to manipulate their own emotions while sociopaths not necessarily comfortable entirely controlling their emotions.

So back to the story, im not sure about whether his mother is a psychopath or not. But I want to think she is not one. It was her style of parenting made him into this type of person, not her mindset. As a child, he would think the role-play is such a big thing for him. To his mother, it was just a bait to distract a kid from her working environment. Yes it was weird how both of them took this plaything into a serious matter later but it’s important to highlight that such a small temporary solution lead to a tragic outcome for both of them.

Here, another parallel highlighting that not only psychopaths and sociopaths(like ML) enjoy feeling sense of superiority and control over someone, but also normal people (like MC)do. I get chills over two consecutive panels of ML’s creepy smile then followed by a panel of MC’s grinning on the other side too. But for sure, ML guy has massive mental power to limit his own emotions too. As you can see, he doesn’t want mc to listen or understand his real struggles. He dropped hints about himself here and there but he left mc’s interpretation about him to himself. He doesn’t care how he will be seen, he was too focused on shaping mc into his own product while not noticing how much of a distorted item he already is. Oh I love the storytelling on this. The author cooked here (Is the author also cooked after writing this one? y’all get the reference right…?)
