Yeah but like if I recall, Duke Ergi is friends with our ML. In the same way that ML was planning to take over the kingdom and took away the magic in the country, he also plotted to ruin Sovieshu amd Rashta. So...in a way, ML is responsible for it all haha

I think from what I remember ergi has a vendetta against mistresses (due to personal reasons) , and a grudge towards sovishit. the only reason why heinley was friends with him (you know, enemy's enemy are friends).But ml doesn't like him that much. I don't think he's a good person either. He's a grey character. We love grey characters here
But about rashta talking to navier....is it too much to think that anyone would have the common sense to not talk with affair partner's wife?
You have to think in the years where the story takes place, some where even friends because they didn't like their husband. And yes, in the beginning she was just a slave, and that shit sovieshu even told her it was ok because he wasn't really "married ", they were friends, and makes sense she believes it, because she's just a slave and she got to see the nobles that didn't care about marriage, they had affairs on the side with the husbands knowledge, bc all marriages where decided by the family.
But yeah, obviously sovieshu is the reason for fucking everything. He makes the worst choices all the time...
If it was because he said they are best friends, I'd believe it too. But if he believed that he's the father of rastha's baby, they have to be sleeping together for a while. That's not very best friend of them. I do pity her for the life she lived before meeting sovishit, but she was an awful woman after she got greedy. As a slave she should know how cruel it is to get punished for even little things. But no, she turned around to do the same

So I guess like, their marriage was more like friendship, if sovieshu grew balls and asked navier if he could get a mistress, things wouldn't got so awkward, like navier didn't know how to interact with rashta and sovieshu was selfish enough to want her to remain a naive idiot in the fucking palace, not knowing how to fucking talk or don't with an empress... like all her remarks looked like a bitch slap to her face, like calling her sister, when she really wanted to have a sister but sounded so absurd to everyone else...
