His literal first thought was to kill her, his second was to inprison her and only after his aids begged him did he consider her honore. Later when he first meets her his first thought is to draw his sword for a killing blow and the "duke" pulled her out saving her life.
The Brother is also a real piece of work.
They have all ruined her life and are shocked she tries to fix it.. yet the temple are denying her access because " she has yet to meet her faithed encounter, only then can they have her enter".. Pure BS
