Is it okay to lock a 3 year old?

I have a destructive brother who finds it fun to hurt others. While yes he is still a child, I need to control that behavior while he is still young. So I bring him to my bedroom and lock us in. I only do this when he did something and doesn't listen. I am with him although out the locking up and he is in my arms while I talk to him gently then we leave once he calms down. But is this an okay route to take so I can correct my brothers behavior? I want to know so I can stop it early if it is more detrimental to him.

Yes. I have a brother who is 11 years younger than me and he was the same. I did the same thing u did. It worked too, but my mom was so against it and I had to stop bc she won't stop yelling at me. Years later, he became more and more stubborn and developed anger issues. He was taken for therapy and even the therapist said that my parents should've just let me correct him. So I think what you're doing is OK. You're not putting him in danger or hurting him. As long as you're gentle with him and he's not left alone, it's ok.
