Holy shit he really did. But I kinda get it. I mean imagine how much hurt and guilt he must feel for being the only one who "survived" the car accident. The guilt of surviving while the person you loved died. And if he was the one driving, that guilt would be much worse.
It would also kinda explain the way the family wants Hakyung to stay away from him. I mean they were probably never approving of them but even more so after the attempted suicide.
