I wouldnt say thats the case. I interpreted it more as if, even though she ran away looking for independence, deep down she still seeks for her fathers acceptance or affection. Kinda like a subconscious response, after all thats how she grew up her entire life.

Girl you literally ran from your father because you wanted to be the master of your life and now you're saying that you can't go out with a hot guy because you're afraid of what your father would think when you introduce the said guy... WTF girl grow some backbone !
