Unrealistic characters and boring story.

This is very boring. The characters are very unrealistic and the story is so one dimensional. The main character’s whole clan got massacred without any solid proof and he’s like “It’s okay, move on”. Even if it has been 50 years, there’s no way there won’t be any resentment and hatred. The male lead is also so one dimensional. He just carried out his father’s order and didn’t protest at all. Literally killed the family of the person he loved and we’re supposed to pity him? Someone is the comments mentioned the male lead is like Itachi when in reality he couldn’t be any further away from Itachi. Itachi did what he did for the good of his village, not clan. He always prioritised the greater good. He did what he did with conviction, resolve and understanding the consequences of his actions wholeheartedly, not solely because someone ordered him to do it. He never said he was used and he never played the victim. He understood the gravity of what he had done. He even admitted he was a sinner and that maybe there was another way to prevent the outcome he had feared. Itachi was a very complex character and so well written while this male lead comes no where even close to Itachi’s shadow. This male lead did as he was ordered to and fled from taking responsibility. He also hoped to be forgiven and played as though he was a victim too. He never even tried another way. He didn’t even put up a fight.

For some of us Itachi is what this ML is to you. I don’t know if you only watched the anime, but in the manga is incredible simple, they ordered him to kill his clan, which he didn’t like, not to the point to kill them but he was on Konoha side not Uchiha’s. That’s all lol. For some of us he was just a plot devices because aside for providing a background for Sasuke, Uchiha’s mass murder didn’t affected Konoha reputation nor any other character aside from Sasuke, this is not mentioned as something important in the polical sense throughout the manga at all. They killed an entire clan on one night without any consequence.

Obviously you don’t have to like this manga, its fine, but the comparison you are doing makes no sense because in the same way that for you Itachi is ‘complex’ which is completely valid by the way, for many Itachi is nothing more than a one dimensional plot devices. Not to mention that the mass murder of clans is very common in chinese stories or chinese settings. sometimes it is taken as something serious and sometimes not so much, because as i said it is a very common trope. Not to mention that this manga is ongoing, the topic will be brought up in the future. At the moment they met again (after 50 years) for something that is definitely related to the killing of the clan.
