The thing that you're missing is that Ash was only there to help Lyle. Lyle had a condition where he couldn't ejaculate nor get hard and it was affecting his sex life especially since he was a top. Ash his first, he wouldn't have agreed to anyone else to top him like Ash did. And it was only because of the new year's kiss. Lyle fell inlove with a stranger who randomly kissed him when the countdown ended. And he got his hopes high that if Ash were to help him with his problem maybe they'd have a connection. But Ash is the kind of person to do a task without getting distracted.
I'm the same aswell, and not alot of people understand what it's like to only focus on the task and not want any distractions to take place, so that the task would be finished. Whether it was helping someone or doing something alone. Ash had a goal, which was to help lyle. But Lyle used that to his advantage thinking Ash will also fall inlove with him. When they both agreed to not having any mutual feelings during the process of ...that.
I think it depends on how you interpret it. When it was Ash’s perspective of his experiences with Karlyle, he said that he was doing things he never did before and Karlyle gave him emotions he never felt before, Karlyle was different to him than everyone else. It’s strongly implied that he had a soft spot for Karlyle and was in the process of falling for him, eventually failing in love with him, but he only realized and acknowledged it after their breakup.
There’s also a part where Ash explained that he only said Karlyle and him had no relationship because he didn’t want rumors popping up before they confirmed their relationship, implying that he knew he liked Karlyle before the breakup as well. When Karlyle texted him saying he wanted to tell him something, the story also showed Ash getting excited and wondering if Karlyle liked him. He expected Karlyle to confess to him when they met and was both shocked and a little angry when Karlyle ended their relationship due to the misunderstanding. His love is just more quiet compared to Karlyle’s, partly because of their different personalities and also because the story is primarily from Karlyle’s perspective, so it’s harder to tell on Ash’s feelings.

Not sure if it was the intention but your comments kinda solidified my initial thought lol I kinda forgot that Ash was there to do a job, which further supports my thought that he never actually had romantic feelings for Karlyle until after their separation and that just rubs me the wrong way. Whether Karlyle had irrational romantic feelings or not, Ash did not have any romantic feelings. That is what made me decide not to brother.
I see your point about maybe Ash just didn’t realize his feelings, in that he did things for karlyle that he never did for anyone else. And yeah, we don’t get enough into Ash’s perspective on anything and maybe if we did it would help. And that thought makes me feel slightly better hahaha but overall, not my vibe. I’d rather Ash just continue to not have feelings for Karlyle, have a separation and then reconcile with fresh feelings. The way I’ve read it so far, the romantic feelings come out a little too late….at least for my liking.

Yeh I was just as put off about Ashs behavior bc it's not behavior of someone whose there to just do a job.
In the beginning theres a scene with Karlyle at bar with Omega drinking and Ash steps in.
Ash calls himself Karlyle bf to the omega and admits he was feeling jealous/possessive at the sight of them. He later said he used the word bf to get the omega to back off. Seems more like mix signals to me.
Karlyles seem more confused about his own feelings which I can understand but I don't think Ashs mixed signals doesnt anything to help him at all.
I only read to ch 17 and was already feeling frustrated at both their behavior. I went to comments to see if anything would help me get more interested in the story and then I saw ur comment. Didn’t finish because the way the plot progresses leaves me with little interest. Ash didn’t realize he had feelings for Lyle until after they broke up. So basically the entire 60+ chapters of them together, ash didn’t actually like Lyle romantically and everything Lyle was scared of was true. All of the affectionate actions ash did were just empty. I wish the author at least made it that ash liked Lyle before the break up. I think I’m missing something because why do people love this?
