dude I know the mom is evil but for the first time in so many of the BLs I have read so far have I seen a truly threatening villain. like she's not the type of villain that you know the top can just get rid of by being himself and she holds real control over the lives of both the ml and the ppl around him. the story wouldn't be half as interesting or have half the stakes it does it if wasn't for the mother, the emperor is a pathetic character compared to her.
