Idk what I feel about it

I remember reading this before but completely forgot why I dropped it or what even happens.

Honestly after reading everything up to the latest chapter, I'm a little conflicted. Usually I drop rape stuff since it's been done so many times it's boring to read. But after thinking why I didn't hate it, I think its probably the setting that's saving this for me.

Its a really brutal setting that actually makes it seem as if the world is on the brink of collapse, so the actions and thoughts that the characters take seems 'believable' in the sense that it really does feel as if they have nothing more to loose. They can act nice all they want (like how that kitty dude wants to act) but in the end, they all think they're walking closer and closer to a death that's been forced upon them.

If the setting ended there, I would have felt it was alright; especially if the narrative/characters actually fully encompassed this hopeless feeling. Obviously I'm not trying to defend it, I would just have preferred if the story acknowledged the actions these characters are taking and give them more depth accordingly.

But what irks me the most is that it's probably going to end in a 'hopeful' way, where they find love in one another. I also would be fine with this if it's treated as what it is, a disgusting desperate affection that's derived from a feeling of hatred, listlessness and desperation. But again, I have a feeling it won't end up that way. ( ̄へ ̄)

Would the series have been saved if it was fully a psychological tragedy? Ahh maybe it's just not for me; I just wish the tragedy aspect stayed until the end to make it worth it.

There is a whole lot of misery & rape so it was probably coz of that.
