"Rainbow city" (novel) Nothing will ever live up to Rainbow city
And let me tell you. Some people ask me "what about little mushroom"? "what about Monster in the mist"?
Just because a novel or story have the same concept as Rainbow city, doesn't mean it's as good. I read "little mushroom" it is AMAZING, but truthfully, it doesn't have the sheer amount of mystery, the foreshadowing, the connections you need to make in order to fully understand the story that rainbow city carries.
Monster in the mist might be similar to rainbow city, but its just straight up bland compared to it.
And okay you might argue other stories such as ORV or the plotlines of Chinese Danmei. But Im speaking from this section of "korean BL" I HAVE NEVER read a Korean BL, that had more plot points than "rainbow city" now im not saying there isn't any, but everything about it is simply perfection. there is just so much to cramp in there, so many plot points. And it's weird because when you're reading it, you go "this shit dont add up" BUT THEN ITS ALL GOING TO BE REVEALED WAYYYYY LATER AND MAKES YOU GO "OHHHHHH" like trust me ive read the comments of people going "im confused about this" "im confused about that" JUST TRUST THE PROCESS, EVERYTHING WILL BE REVEALED I PROMISE AND IT WILL ALL MAKE SENSE. AND THE CHARACTERS HAVE SO MUCH MONOLOUGE EVEN FOR THE SMALLEST THINGS. Don't get me started on the chemistry between the male leads HOLY SHIT, THE DEVELPMENT OF THEIR RELATIONSHIP IS SO GOOD, AND THE CHEMISTRY IS UNMATCHED OMG. That AND I SAY IT IS SO RARE IN A BL FOR SIDE CHARACTERS TO ACTUALLY MATTER. BUT RAINBOW CITY GOT SO MANY LIKEABLE SIDE CHARACTERS, THAT ARE ACTUALLY SIGNIFICANT TO THE PLOT and interact with the main leads. That and there are points where you actually have to use your brain to connect two and two together in order to fully understand it and not just "oh this happened because the author put it there". The main leads ar so complex as well. The male lead especially, Ive seen so many people hate on the ML for the SA at the beginning, but that DOESNT MEAN HIS WHOLE CHARACTER IS JUST THROWN AWAY. its been proven so many times in the novel JUST HOW MUCH HE ACTUALLY CARES ABOUT THE MC. and as much as he jokes around and act like your average fuckboy, HE ACTUALLY CARES ABOUT PEOPLE BESIDES THE MC. And dont even get me started on the main antagonist of the story OMG HE MADE ME WANNA BANG MY HEAD AGAINST A WALL. BUT THATS GOOD CAUSE ITS A SIGN HES WELL WRITTEN. Hes a deranged maniac, but acts like he isn't (i really dont know how to explain), BUT SERIOUSLY OMG, ITS JUST AMAZINGLY WELL WRITTEN, NOTHING COMPARES. The author's other works are amazing too, I noticed she could take the simplest and most cliche plots such as poor uke x rich seme AND TURN IT INTO A PSYCOLOGICAL BL WITH ACTUAL MSTERY AND PLOT TWISTS. and Rainbow city is truly a master piece. Ive read about 400 if not more KOREAN BL and I have never NEVER seen anything that's better written than Rainbow city. There is just no comparison.
Shangri la no tori, there are other stories that are really good, but nothing can be as perfect as that story is.
10 years where I loved you the most
The art is nostalgic and even if same plots may come in the future. Nothing beats the 2020's era because it is the first BL I genuinely didnt get to move on.

Flawless- literally a flawless masterpiece. About a twisted blind guy meeting a tomboy girl who will turn out to be his best friend and safe space.
Baraou no souretsu. Very twisted and sad story. Loved the art, the story, the MAIN CHARACTER is just... amazing. If I could force upon you ppl one thing, it probably would be to read this
