This changes nothing period point blank

How does that story change anything though? She still isn't gonna divorce until she hears it from his own mouth (hopefully if she falls to this I'll lose all faith in the story) and what makes her think Roland will just run with her ideas no kickback whatsoever. She's still trying to force an unwilling couple to get a divorce to suit her needs.

I think she's banking on the possibility that roland cares too much for the country to just throw it all away for chloe.

At least if chloe goes away, even if they're not divorced, his resulting situation will open possibilities for marriage alliances (even if it's for a second queen or something)

And the most he can probably do to the queen dowager, is exile her far away from the political scene since she's too influential to just get rid off immediately. And even if he kills her, as long as she can cement his position as king, she probably doesn't care (For now, at least. Who knows how she'll act with actual death threats).

Except she wouldn't be asking Chloe directly if she didn't know Roland would probably refuse. That's why she had to be all sneaky about it with the fake letters, bribes, and attempted kidnapping.

And anyway I don't think the queen dowager really has a choice but to go along with his wants since she doesn't have another successor. Though if she proves herself to be a threat I don't think Roland will hesitate in getting rid of her.

In fact I think this story will take the cliche route of making Chloe have to "prove herself". Because it's already trying to make the queen seem sympathetic by comparing her love for the kingdom to Chloe and Roland's love.

Haha, yeah true. She's too arrogant to even consider the possibility there can be another option w/o having to get rid of chloe.

.... if I understood the spoilers right, she appears to be more power hungry rather than an extreme patriot (like she genuinely believes herself to be patriotic, but her actions say otherwise)
