Am ngl as aesthetically pleasing as the second couple may seem the way the author portrays the fish to be innocent and childlike kinda makes me uncomfortable considering their age gap as well. Maybe it’s just me it’s giving grooming vibes so I can’t get into them at all. You can justify it by saying he hasn’t had human contact for a long time but that just makes things worse imo, because it means his development is significantly slower than others so mentally he is still a child.

it didn’t give that vibe to me, for me the mermaid is described as a mistreated animal which showcases the division of communication between them, i wouldn’t call lu xia innocent only isolated from society and once he leaves with doctor he’ll be able to reconnect and socialize and actually become “normal” (take word normal loosely english isnt my first language and cant come up with a better word to describe what im trying to say)

That's just how it is when it's "isolated uke x regular citizen seme" trope. Ik it's uncomfortable and can be weird, but I think it's at least wholesome. But I also can't rlly get into the 2nd couple yet bc I'm still invested into the first couple
